Mrs. Nicole Roach

Welcome to the 2023-2024 school year at Akin Road Elementary! My name is Nicole Roach, I am the Information Technology Literacy Specialist (ITLS) here at Akin Road. I am very excited to encourage, support, and witness your child grow academically in the media center both online and offline focusing on literature, research skills, digital citizenship, technology integration &  STREAM education!  

I have been teaching for 24 years at the elementary level. I started my career teaching in a 5th-grade classroom but discovered my true passion was to teach research & technology skills so I started taking classes to obtain a master's degree in library media education. After graduating, my career path lead me to Akin Road Elementary school. I have enjoyed teaching and growing alongside the students at Akin Road over the past 19 years, adjusting with the ever-changing role of an Information Technology Literacy Specialist. Please feel free to stop by and introduce yourself, you are always welcome in the media center!

Mrs. Lisa Wohlers

Hello!  My name is Lisa Wohlers, and I am the ITLS Educational Assistant at Akin Road Elementary School.  This is my fifth year in this position.  I assist Mrs. Roach in various capacities within the Media Center.  I thoroughly enjoy working with the children, both in the library and the computer lab.  Prior to coming to ARES, I worked as an assistant preschool teacher at All Saints Church in Lakeville for 13 years.  Working with K-5 kids after so many years with four and five-year-olds was quite an adjustment but a nice change of pace!  I’ve also worked in the Dakota County Library system, so I feel right at home here.  I am excited to be back in school and look forward to the 2023-2024 school year.
